Art at HFA for Home School Kids

Classes Held Mondays 10-11:30am OR Thursdays, 10:30 to 12:00 pm.
Ages 5-14 Kindergarten-8th grades.

We meet Weekly for art making. Registration is a month at a time, (4 classes). Each class will focus on a specific artist/culture/movement and art making techniques that correspond to the lesson.  Monday classes taught by Zoe. Thursday Classes taught by Michelle.

Registration ends 12 hrs prior to each month's 1st class so we have time to gather resources and prep for class.

These classes are geared towards Elementary/MS aged children. We will be exploring art through; history, artists, movements, culture, and mediums. Every class offers a hands-on making project based on that days medium.

We are simplifying our classes this year. We'll be working on skill building with the following media schedule-
Topics by week in the Month:
1st: Clay
2nd: Drawing
3rd: Painting
4th: Mixed Media
***If you Miss Signing up for the month and wish to join a class you must call the studio 24 hrs before class starts to join.  A la cart is $20 a class.  Payable when you arrive to the studio.****

Why Art?:
Studies have shown that children who are exposed to the arts have higher academic achievement, are more socially aware, and are better equipped to express themselves verbally.

For your young artist, this session could be the one that opens up a world they never knew existed.

What does the price get you? All the supplies needed for the days' project, instruction by a qualified, experienced art teacher, any finishing of project such as firing.

Students will learn about famous artists as well as lessor-known contemporary ones.  Each class has a intellectual exploration to put the inspiration art into context.

Application of concepts and developing skills in processing, planning, designing, and implementing their own art is encouraged.

This unique approach to an art class is not your traditional ceramics studio stuff.  It will challenge students to learn, think critically, and then take that knowledge one step further by applying it to create their own pieces of art. Led by an art teacher with 26 years art teaching experience.

In going through this experience together, kids will build friendships with fellow students and learn about the unique experiences and communities each brings to the studio. There will be open discussions and an expectation of courtesy and open-mindedness from all students.

What to bring:
Please send kids with a water bottle, and clothes that can get messy.  All art supplies are provided by the studio.
